About Us

City Lumber Company is a family owned business that was founded in 1970. Dick Strobel came from IBM to manage the location on Bob Wallace in 1976.

In 1986, Dick and Kay Strobel decided to buy City Lumber. What began as a lumber yard quickly grew to offer more products and services to the building community in Huntsville and the surrounding areas. We offer all the products you would need for new construction or remodeling. In 1994, City Lumber opened store #2 in Hampton Cove on Hwy 431. In June of 2010 Dick’s daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Jason Terry, purchased the business. We have built a new dedicated showroom on Bob Wallace Ave as well as created a showroom space in our Hampton Cove store. We are rebranding ourselves as City Lumber Home Center to better represent what we really do!

Sales Force
We have a sales force of 7 men with over 100 years of combined experience in the building materials industry. Whether you are looking for a specific product to finish a job or have a set of plans that you need a takeoff on, we have the person for the job.

Mitzi Lipscomb is our millwork expert! She brings a wealth of knowledge not only on products, but the entire building process as well. She has over 15 years of experience and you will love how she takes care of your job, just like it was her own.

John Madagan handles our cabinet design department and can do wonders with anything from new construction, to remodeling, to just re-facing old cabinets.

Feel free to visit our showroom at the Bob Wallace location to find the perfect window, door, column, siding, stair parts, skylights or whatever else you may need for your home. If you can dream it we can build it. Our Hampton Cove showroom has windows for new construction or remodeling, furniture grade vanities, interior and exterior doors and many other new things to help you with your projects!

Lumber Yard
Our lumber yard is staffed with an experienced crew of over 30 drivers, stockers, operators and management. We run 16 different trucks to handle all sizes of loads. We maintain an inventory of lumber, roofing, insulation, felt, housewrap, sheetrock, rebar, block, siding and more to fill all your needs.

Delivery Schedule: Orders received by 11am will be delivered that day. Orders received after 11am will be delivered by 11am the following day.

Truss Shop
We have a truss shop on premises that builds all of our roof and floor systems using engineered wood products from LP. We have just added a wall panel machine and an open web floor machine. Call Billy Nunley For More Information at 256-551-1107 !!!
